Privacy Policy — LAINA DAINA

LAINA DAINA ("we", "us", "the app") is a digital ledger (khata) that helps shopkeepers and small businesses in Pakistan record credit (udhaar) given and taken. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can delete it.
The app is operated by HISAAB LAINA DAINA (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, House 1169/15, Street 29, Sector D, DHA Phase 6, Lahore 54000, Pakistan. For any privacy question, contact us at qasim@lainadaina.com.
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to keep your ledger:
- Your phone number — used as your account identity and to send you a one-time login code.
- Names — your business name, your name, and the names of customers and suppliers you add to your ledger.
- Business details — address, city, business type, preferred language, and an optional WhatsApp number.
- Ledger entries — the amounts, dates, payment methods, party references, and notes you record.
- Bill and document images — photos or PDFs you upload as evidence, plus the text we read from them.
- Voice notes — when you speak an entry, we send the short clip to be converted into text. We store the resulting text. We do not keep the audio recording.
- Contacts you choose — when you pick a contact to add as a customer or supplier, we save only that one contact's name and number. We do not upload your contact list.
- A passcode (PIN) — if you set one, we store only a scrambled (hashed) version, never the PIN itself.
- Subscription and usage information — your plan and basic counts of how you use the app.
We do not collect your location or GPS, advertising identifiers, or any behavioral tracking data.
How we use your information
We use your information only to run the service: to log you in, to save and display your ledger, to read text from your bills and voice notes, to monitor and fix errors, and — only when you ask — to send reminder messages on your behalf.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers, and each receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — stores your account and ledger data, and your uploaded images, on secure servers located in Singapore.
- OpenAI — reads text from the individual bill image, voice clip, or note you submit. It receives only that single item, never your full ledger.
- VeevoTech — receives your phone number and the login code to send your one-time SMS.
- Wati — used, only when you choose to send a reminder, to deliver a WhatsApp message (recipient number and message content).
- Sentry — receives technical error reports to help us fix crashes. These reports do not include your personal data.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Storage, security, and retention
Your data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections and stored on secured servers. Uploaded bill images are kept in a private store accessible only through temporary signed links.
- Bill and document images are automatically deleted after 90 days; the text we extracted from them is kept as part of your ledger.
- Supplier submissions are kept for up to 180 days.
- Ledger entries are kept for as long as your account is active, so your records stay complete.
Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — from inside the app under settings, or from our web page at app.lainadaina.com/delete. When you request deletion, we permanently remove your account, profile, ledger entries, uploaded images, stored transcripts, and passcode within 30 days.
Children
LAINA DAINA is intended for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and post the new version at this page.
